Breckinridge County is on the Ohio River which provides a major artery of transportation for potential industries located here. The county has primarily an agricultural economic basis with a few industries.

The Fisher Home near Cloverport is the oldest brick home in the county having been built in 1801 and made from brick fired on the property.

Tobacco is an important cash crop for Breckinridge County farmers, and the use or no use affects the economy of the county. The county produces 6 million pounds of tobacco with an income of $11 million.
